HSE Leader @ Port of Tyne
James Wright is an experienced health, safety, and environment professional with 17 years of service within the Port industry. Having held a range of Environmental and Health & Safety roles, James is now the HSE Leader, driving strategic improvements in safety culture, sustainability performance, and regulatory compliance.
James is also the project manager for the Port’s Tyne 2050 initiatives, overseeing major programmes aimed at achieving Net Zero by 2030. His work includes developing the Port’s Climate Transition Plan, Climate Adaptation Plan, Energy Demand Strategy, and Renewable Energy Generation Strategy.
A key member of the Port’s Innovation Team, James helps shape forward‑looking projects focused on Green Shipping, future fuels, and emerging clean technologies. James is passionate about creating resilient, future‑ready port operations and championing sustainable transformation across the maritime sector.
